- Database starts with a warning message, such as:

Cause

This is caused by unpublished Bug 6417713
Abstract: UNABLE TO START DATABASE DUE ORA-7445 [KSBNFY]

Startup on Linux PowerPC fails with 3113 when /proc/ppc64/lparcfg is readable.
Selecting from v$ostat on Linux PowerPC generates a ORA-3113.

Solution

This unpublished bug 6417713 is fixed in Oracle release 10.2.0.4, 11.1.0.7 and 11.2.

To start the instance, a possible workaround might be to set the permission 600 (readable by root only) to file, '/proc/ppc64/lparcfg'; but in this case in the Alert.log we will have:

WARNING : /proc/ppc64/lparcfg not readable


One-off patches may be available depending on your current release and operating system.
To obtain a patch from MetaLink:
1) Click on Patches.
2) Click on Simple Search
3) Enter patch number: 6417713
4) Select your OS: IBM Power Based Linux
5) Click Go.
